What I love about Italian cuisine? Recipes are easy and so incredibly delicious. This easy Tiramisu recipe is made within 10 minutes and you just can’t get enough of it. The combination of super creamy and rich mascarpone frosting with a hint of almond, together with the unmistakable taste of ladyfingers soaked in coffee, topped with a thin layer of dark cacao powder. How much better can it get? I have the ultimate summer edition for you: adding strawberries to it gives the entire easy Tiramisu recipe a light and summer-like taste.

Homemade Tiramisu Original

For the Tiramisu original from Italy, there are only a few ingredients needed! This is what I generally admire about the Italian cuisine. If it is pizza, pasta, ice cream or another dish, they keep it super simple regarding the ingredients, but the combination and preparation of them result in something you can only indulge in. It reminds me of my travels to Rome in 2017, I fell in love with Rome throughout this vacation. Every day there was so much to see, all those old and historical buildings and then in between I stopped by authentic restaurants and cafes to get some delicious Italian food. I set myself the goal that I won’t leave Rome without trying the original Italian Tiramisu dessert. It truly tasted like a homemade Tiramisu recipe! I got it from Pompi Tiramisu next to Vatican City and it was delish!

The easy Tiramisu recipe from Italians only contain a couple of ingredients: in the Tiramisu mascarpone is the main ingredient, which is mixed with sugar, egg yolk and of course in this Tiramisu amaretto cannot be missing, which is also added to this mixture. As simple as that. For the Tiramisu biscuits we take those traditional ladyfingers and dip them in freshly brewed coffee. This is all stacked and topped off with a super thin layer of dark cacao powder. There is no baking needed as it is not a Tiramisu cake, but a Tiramisu dessert! I love this simplicity!

Vegan, eggless Tiramisu

Making a vegan Tiramisu recipe is surely not the easiest thing, but totally doable! I’ve seen several recipes how an eggless Tiramisu can be done, with it being completely vegan. We can have a look at the main ingredients which need to be substituted:

  • Dairy free products: for this we can either use dairy free mascarpone, Greek yoghurt or yoghurt mixed with dairy free heavy cream. But those alternative products are unfortunately not available everywhere, so it can be made in another way by mixing soaked cashews until it becomes cashews butter and mix that with coconut milk and syrup.
  • Eggless Tiramisu: to substitute eggs, cornstarch mixed with sugar can be used to bind the frosting together
  • Tiramisu biscuits: those usually contain eggs and the easiest way is to bake an eggless sponge cake yourself

Tiramisu Ingredients

For this easy Tiramisu recipe we keep it close to the Italian Tiramisu original recipe, thus it is simple! But I added the variation of adding strawberries to it, because I once tried it and it was such a different and delicious experience that I had to share this with you!

  • Tiramisu Amaretto: we use the amaretto to combine it with the egg yolk and powdered sugar. Once this is mixed we let it sit for a couple of minutes and due to the powdered sugar it will become a bit firm, which is perfect for a creamy frosting!
  • Tiramisu Mascarpone: for the frosting with simply mix the mascarpone with heavy cream and add the mixture with amaretto to it.
  • Tiramisu Biscuits: I buy the classic ladyfingers and dip them with the sugar side into coffee, turn it around, so that the coffee has the chance to soak down into the entire ladyfinger and place it into the bowl. Depending on the size of bowl, several layers of Tiramisu biscuits and the Tiramisu mascarpone layers can be added. First go the biscuits which are always topped with the mascarpone mix. Finishing off with a thin layer of sifted dark cacao powder.
  • Strawberry Tiramisu: when making a Strawberry Tiramisu, we wash and dice the strawberries and lay them out on the ladyfingers and cover them in the mascarpone mix. So worth it!
