You only need 5 minutes or less for this delicious, healthy, vegan chocolate peanut butter porridge recipe! We make this porridge in the microwave or just pour hot water over it and it’ll be ready within a minute. There is no need for a sauce pan, cooking or whatsoever. The combination of the dark chocolate porridge with cocoa powder, the peanut butter and the banana is perfect and makes it taste like a peanut butter cup porridge or reese’s porridge.

First, we should clarify how do you make porridge? The porridge ingredients are essential here. For the instant porridge, we need either instant oats or quick cooking oats. This way we can just use hot water or put the oatmeal in the microwave. The instant and quick cook oats, are oats that are softer and smaller, thus they don’t need a lot of heat or a lot of liquid to become soft. Rolled oats, steel cut oats, oat bran, oat groats and Scottish oats are not suitable for this recipe.

For oatmeal spice I always add a dash of cinnamon to it, to enhance the rich flavor and it also benefits the body.

How to make porridge vegan? Very simple, in order to make this banana chocolate peanut butter porridge vegan, we just don’t use any milk and instead use hot water. This will make the oatmeal chocolate banana porridge with peanut butter low calorie. Ingredients

Chocolate Peanut Butter Porridge

  • 1/2 cup (50g) instant or quick oats
  • 1 tsp each chia seeds, ground flax seeds, wheat bran, (optional)
  • 1 tbsp (10g) raw dark cocoa powder
  • 1 pinch cinnamon, (optional)
  • 1 tbsp (12g) syrup (vegan) or honey
  • 2 tbsp (20g) peanut butter, (100%)
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) hot water
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 tbsp peanuts, cacao nibs, (optional)

Method

Chocolate Peanut Butter Porridge

    1. Add the oats or oatmeal (chia seeds, ground flax seeds, wheat bran if available), raw dark cacao powder, cinnamon, syrup or honey and only 1 tbsp of peanut butter in a bowl, pour hot water over it and stir until well combined. Let it sit for 1 minute and stir again.
    2. Cut off a quarter of the ripe banana and slice it for the topping. Cut in half the remaining ¾ of the banana and then cut into slices, add them into the porridge.
    3. For the topping decorate with the remaining banana slices, 1 tbsp of peanut butter, peanuts and cocoa nibs (optional)
